Product Review: Lotus Herbals Whiteglow skin whitening and brightening Micro-Emulsion

Hi sweeties, so I am up with another product review from Lotus Herbals’ Whiteglow range. This time I am gonna target their Micro-Emulsion. When I bought this product, I had no idea about micro-emulsions. So, I did some googling and here is what is found out.

“Micro emulsions are clear, stable, isotropic liquid mixtures of oil, water and surfactant, frequently in combination with a cosurfactant. The aqueous phase may contain salt(s) and/or other ingredients, and the “oil” may actually be a complex mixture of different hydrocarbons and olefins.” (Source: Wikipedia)

Brand: Lotus Herbals

Name: Whiteglow skin whitening and brightening Micro-Emulsion

Quantity: 40ml

Price: INR 225/-

Ingredients: Active ingredients of grape extract, mulberry extract, milk enzyme, saxifraga extract. D.M., water, cyclopentasiloxane, demethicone crosspolymer, dimethicone, laureth-4, caprylyl methicone, arctostaphylos uva-ursi extract, camellia siensis extract, PEG/PPG/18 dimethicone, cyclopentasiloxane T rid eceth-6, sodium polyacrylate, methyl paraben, propyl paraben, propylene glycol, diazolidinyl urea, milk enzymes, triter penoids, phenyl flavones extract, epigallocathechin extract, vitis vinifera extract, biosaccharide gum-1, alpha-arbutin, fragrance.

Packaging: Packaging is nice and it comes with a pump which is another added benefit from hygienic point of view. But I got some bad piece and my pump does not work out nicely. 🙁 But otherwise, bottle looks sweet and stylish.

What it claims: It provides triple action on skin-lightening, whitening and brightening with the help of rare fruit and proven plant extracts that penetrates deep into the skin to provide enduring action. The result, your skin looks fairer, flawless and radiant. It has advantages of 2-6 times deeper and faster penetration, quicker delivery of ingredients, nourishes and hydrates, leaves no residue.

Fragrance: It smells exactly like all other products from this range (having smell of yogurt and an unidentified but sort of flowery fragrance). I seriously feel that there would be very mixed opinions upon its fragrance because such kinda smells are either someone’s TOTAL FAVORITE or can be ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING for the others. (I more or less fall in to the latter category).

What I like about it:

  • Cute packaging
  • Decent Price
  • Have never tried any other micro-emulsion in the past. So, it sort of was the first product for me which claims to be having 2-6 times faster penetration.
  • Consistency is quite thick and creamy (so little gets a long way).
  • Has SPF of 25.

What I didn’t like about it:

  • None of the claims became true in my case (I applied it twice a day).
  • I found some other night-crèmes to be doing much better a job than this micro-emulsion (penetrator).
  • Did absolutely nothing for my skin.

My take on the product: Initially I did not know how to use it with all other skin care products from this range. So, I used to apply it after serum. But now after applying it for so many days, I have given up applying all products together. For me, only gel crème and face masque are worth trying. I don’t know how it would work for other skin types, but for me it was useless.

Would I repurchase it: No, I would rather spend upon my other favorite skin care products.

Rating: 2/5 (for packaging and for bringing about something unique in the skin care products in Indian market).

Shruti, thanx for doing a review on it.. When this range was launched it sounded so much promising.
Have you used the scrub from this range? People say its good. What’s your opinion/experience?

Is there any post where I could get to know your skin care products? Or you might write a post about your fav products.

@Orangeorn: Yes dear even I was very impressed with it when I saw it on commercials. And that’s why bought the whole range myself. 😉 But, yes after using it I finally realised that whatever we have studied in schools about marketing techniques is afterall a BIG TRUTH. 🙂
Yes I have used its scrub too. And my opinion is again negative about it, as it is unbelievable harsh on skin.
And my skin care routine is pretty much limited to Blossom Kochhar’s Aroma magic products (and I love them all to death). I will soon write a post about them. 🙂 It was just that I am busy with my Thesis work these days and that’s why not doing much stuff here. But I will definitely write about your concerned topics as soon as possible. Hope you would enjoy reading them. 🙂
