Stay Cool and Fresh (Nail art design 19)

Hi lovelies, let’s have a new fresh nail art design to beat the soon-to-be-approaching-summer-heat. 🙂 May be you have an idea about my latest obsession.. yess it’s with color blue. (Read full post here). So, getting influenced by that, I have come up with a new cool tutorial. BTW there was an other source of inspiration, which you will get to know by the end of this post. 😉

Ok, now without any further ado, let’s get down to main task. To start off, apply base coat on all nails.

Then, you need to have four different shades or hues of the same color. Like if you are going for pink- then baby pink, hot pink, coralish pink and reddish pink etc. Similarly for green, it would be pastel green, minty green, apple green and emerald green. BTW I used blue color, so the shades which I have taken are icy blue, pastel blue, surf blue and royal blue. So, the next step is to apply the lightest colored nail paint on all nails. Here I have used icy blue.

Then, with pastel blue (next darker shade), I covered half portion of each nail. To break monotony, apply them randomly on all nails. Like sometimes horizontally and sometimes vertically.

After that, pick the next darker shade, which was surf blue in my case.. and then again cover half of the nail. But, this time make sure to let the previous two colors see through from at least one small square of each color.

And then with the final color (the darkest one), in my case it was royal blue.. cover the remaining nail area. So, ideally you should be left with small four squares of four different shades of blue.

Then, since the border of each color won’t be as neat as we would like them to be, so we would have to use one white nail art pen. Draw two white lines intersecting from middle to cover all the unevenness.

And lastly, let the design get dry completely (it would take some time, as we have applied almost 8 layers of nail polish- 2 coats of each nail paint); and then seal it off with top coat. And that’s done now. Now coming back to my source of inspiration…. it was none other than our-old-charm… my school time favorite bubblegum ‘Center Fresh’. 😉

So, how was it? I hope you like it and the best thing about this design is that you can choose almost any color and recreate it in your own style by experimenting with its different hues, tints and shades.

Have fun girls and see you soon! 🙂

P.S. Both lighter shades of blue are looking kinda greenish here, that’s because of the flash I guess. But they are indeed the blues only. 😀
